Ever since I've been going through my collection and buffing everyone up with equipment, I've began to notice how... smart everyone has been. Like seriously. I've got Wario who's comboing utilt into his Wario Waft, Bowser Jr. who's finally using his Mecha Koopas much more often, Duck hunt being smart and controlling neutral from the far end of the stage, and then Samus stinking less.
I've shelved those characters for an awfully long time, and then I bring them back to see this stuff??? Whelp, training is a lot easier than I thought...
My question is, are there any other smart amiibo I should know about that aren't S tier (I know these guys are good/smart)?

Lucas is pretty smart if you take away his snake spamming.

Lucas is pretty smart if you take away his snake spamming. I dunno, mine seems to be pretty dumb.
Or maybe I just need to train him a bit more, because after that marathon of facing Mewtwo, all he does is use fsmash oos.
Also,
you liked your own post.

That seriously made me

Are you kidding?? Forward smash is Lucas' best move in my opinion! You've got a good fighter on your hands, do not worry.

Man, I am definitely obviously very good at this training thing then.
Because little do you know... I DEFINTELY DID THAT ON PURPOSE!!! I just knew he would learn that from Mewtwo. I mean, DLC for the win!
And now, I will conquer the world with Lucas at my SIDE to SMASH everything!

Well, it has been stated in training guides before that vanilla amiibo are harder to optimally train than their fed counterparts.
A second factor to amiibo getting more effective could be allocated to changes in the character's level 9 CPU. If an update edits the way the AI performs, your amiibo will be affected. For example, one update reduced the frequency at which Yoshi's CPU would use it's UpB, a change that the amiibo also had.
What you're looking for as "smart" depends on your perspective. Some amiibo learn more easily than others, but some that don't learn so well are still effective with their default strategies. Learning a strategy doesn't necessarily mean it will be an improvement over the previous combat style.

How smart amiibo are, is based on the perspective of their owners like what Rofl mentiond because when they learn new tactics from them, the skill level they obtain is significantly increased after some fights. Some of the lowest tiered amiibo have the capability to use their moves more effectively in battle against The higher tiered amiibo because their owners spent more time training them. It is not about how many fights they have fought in because they learn based on the amount of time they spent fighting. However, when amiibo fight against each other, they learn new tactics, but end up having a common ground if they battle each other too many times. That is why human training expands and spreads their knowlege of new ways to fight to defeat other amiibos that are not exposed to new tactics.

Guess I shoulda been more specific about being "smart" huh?
You both have an important point though. I mean, yeah, an amiibo's skill level is dependent on how much experience they have. My Charizard is a prime example of this.
I was thinking more of characters that are just naturally good at it. Like how Bowser uses his moveset so well, and Lucina and her excellent adapting abilities.

Naturally smart amiibo often have very good AI.However, their AI depends on their bonuse stats, which dramatically affect them. On the other hand, vanilla amiibos usually have untainted AI that make them smarter if they are fighting only against each other.
Some examples are (based off amiibo dojo, amiibo trainer source blog and amiibo trainers (Dan):
Mario Ness
These guys do not require skill to train and they have great AI.

Well, hey, I wouldn't say they don't require skill. Every amiibo still requires skill to train. A statement like that would be discrediting both of our hard-earned wins.

Yeah, my Ness is pretty horrible, all he does is spam PK Fire, which is good, but not if he misses, which he does. Lucas requires a lot of patience, and, in my opinion, is one of the best teammates out there. He's better at Team Battles, trust me.
