In an effort to make it use its fruits (namely orange and apple) consistently for spacing and racking up damage, I trained it exclusively with the following 3-match cycle:
1. Give amiibo 300% handicap, 8 stocks, run away when it approaches, kill it with only orange and apple (this is similar to Cloud's old Pac-Man guide, where you would kill the amiibo with each fruit on the Standstill custom stage, but since Standstill doesn't work anymore, I just used Final Destination; also, I only use the fruits that I want it to use)
2. Repeat match #1
3. Play a regular 2-stock match, stay close to the edges so that when the amiibo hits me with a fruit i can use the knockback to SD to make it think it got a kill. I also emphasize using aerials & smash attacks during these games so it also learns something other than fruits.
Basically I repeated this until level 50. I hadn't actually had much success with it (Pac-Man still spammed cherries, used jab 1 a lot, and stood on his hydrant doing nothing). But I continued the next day for about 2-3 hours, and he learned REALLY fast. He always keeps an orange charged and throws them when I try to run up and approach. He also punishes my shield/roll from the orange with a grab. He spaces and throws apples at me when I'm offstage. He also learned to use the bell somehow, and usually follows it up with side smash or side B. And, of course, he's pretty balanced and solid with his aerials and smashes.
However, he also has some new weird behaviour.
1) If I don't shield or dodge his apples/oranges and get hit by them, he ALWAYS follows up with side B. Even if we're offstage.
2) He sometimes uses up smash after hitting a bell, even though all he ends up landing is the weak initial hitbox of up smash (to get the target off the ground and into the main attack). Of course, it kills anyway if I'm at a high enough %, because of the bell damage and knockback itself.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to fixing these 2 things?
