My Mewtwo was recently entered in a tournament and got 2nd place. So I am open for ideas and discussions about bettering this amiibo.... cause i wanted first
His build is 120 att, 200 def, and -200 speed. Since he is kind of floaty and has that teleport, I knew he wouldn't have issues getting back to the stage. 200 defense because he is pretty fragile. 120 attack because of obvious reasons.
His bonus abilities included explosive shield, improved escapability, and critical hitter. As many have said, one of the best set ups in the game. Explosive shield cause damage. Improved escapability because MewTwo is fragile and don't like being touched. Critical Hitter because of how I trained him. **Just a note, at one time I DID NOT have explosive shield and used vampiric healing. It is not a bad alternative**
TRAINING:
So one thing we all know about MewTwo, dat up smash. The first time I trained Mewtwo I focused the crap out of this move, to the point where he threw it out all the time. However, his spacing was sometimes off or the opponent would dodge... and poor Mewtwo would pay dearly. I decided to reset him and try again. This time around I focused DEFENSE, such as using explosive shield in slow speed on special smash. My secondary focus was to make sure that if my MewTwo ever ended up above me, I used that UPSMASH. I would even use it if he happened to dodge close enough to me. I NEVER dodged to him and tried to use upsmash, I believe that is where he was getting messed up with spacing. Instead, I used COMBOS. MewTwo's downtilt is very fast and sets up great combos. I usually downtilt into uptilt, or into side B. The reason for this? It sets up his UPSMASH. Once the combo hits, opponents are above MewTwo; and I taught him that if the opponent is ever above you to use upsmash. Another good combo was uptilt into foward smash at low percentages, or uptilt into upsmash. My MewTwo will sometimes even pull off 3 move combos with this method. Such as downtilt, side b, forward smash or downtilt, uptilt, upsmash. All of this paired with critical hitter.... crazy damage.
This isn't the greatest ever MewTwo set up, cause obviously he only got 2nd. However he did beat the S ranked Rosalina and Luma. I just figured people could take this and tweak it to their preference. Not only that, but share what they have found out while training their Mewtwo. Anyone have an idea for improvement?
