Let's talk about Mario, Luigi, and Dr. Mario amiibo and how they perform.
Post your own setups for each!
Mario (DoTheMario)
40 Atk, 40 Def, 40 Spd
-Critical Hit
-Explosive Perfect Shield
-Improved Escapability
CUSTOMS: Fast Fireball, Gust Cape, Scalding F.L.U.D.D.
Mario is, in my opinion, one of the best amiibo in the amiibo metagame. Mine can go toe-to-toe with Ganondorf due to his quick counterattacks, and could contend and win against most of the other amiibo in my possession. My only gripe with him, though, is that he "hiccups" over time. One minute, he's playing near flawless defense; the next, he's jumping and using his cape or aerials, or spamming down smash to punish a shield break (which never reaches, I might add). But once he gets a refresher on his optimal fighting style, he's a force to be reckoned with.
Luigi (Spaghetti)
10 Atk, 100 Def, 10 Spd
-Auto Heal
-Explosive Perfect Shield
-Improved Escapability
CUSTOMS: Quick Missile
Ah, Luigi. He slowly became one of my favorite amiibo, and my main shortly after. At first, he started out meh (I fed him only shield bonuses that were not Explosive Perfect Shield), but once I tinkered with his stats, he became a tricky opponent for my amiibo. The thing is, he balances both ground and aerial attacks smartly. For example, he'll only use aerials to catch an opponent when they're off guard or when they least suspect it, but will never use aerials when an opponent is ready to intercept him. Another example is that he'll throw fireballs so that opponents would either block or roll out of the way. If they do roll towards him, though, he'll send them flying with a forward smash. He's also got great longevity, which helps him contend with his brother, Ganondorf, and Bowser, even beating them on more than one occasion. Once I obtain a PowerSaves, he'll be one of my top tournament picks.
Dr. Mario (Ratchet)
60 Atk, 30 Def, 30 Spd
-Trade-Off Attack
-Auto Heal
-Lifesteal
CUSTOMS: Fast Capsule, Super Jump, Soaring Tornado
The doc, while not as good as Mario, is still very strong. He's slow and can't jump high, so I gave him a nice boost of 30 Speed and Super Jump to aid in his recovery. Doc, for the most part, is VERY strong. Like, 40-50% uncharged Forward Smash strong. Throw in Lifesteal, and you've got a heavy hitter that can recover off his 30% the Trade-Off gives him. His only problems include that of Mario's, and that he flubs up his recovery by landing above the ledge, leaving him open for a kill. Overall though, he's one tough amiibo that most underestimate.
