Im not making this thread because of my jigglypuffs "greed". It has been getting to me for a while now. Smash ball completely changes the metagame. Amiibo placing in the tier list could change because of smash ball. Little mac can even go down, because Smash ball flies around, and mac struggles in the air. Characters with little to no benefit from smash ball can see themselves going down as well. Characters that have no benefit from smash ball will still get themselves vulnerable trying to get it. You saw what happened to me and God Reborn trying to get the smash ball... costed me AWT6. Smash balls bring a factor of luck into gameplay as well. All that hard training for your amiibo to shield everything wont matter if you get hit by marth's OHKOing Final smash (which goes through shields). What are your guys opinions on smash balls? Are they worth it?

Honestly, there really is no point other than to add flash and factor in luck bullsh!t into a match. Luckily AWT7 will be Vanilla, so there may be no Items at all.

Actually, Dan said he plans on putting the Smash Ball on in the vanilla tournament.
To be blunt, Smash Balls add absolutely nothing of value to the metagame except for making strong characters stronger. They ruin the competitive balance and allow an amiibo who is clearly the worse of the two to win a match on a whim. In my tournaments there won't be any of this.

Smashballs certainly make bad amiibo worse and good amiibo great, but they also make bad amiibo good just as often as they make good amiibo bad. Take AWT 6 for example. Arguably, Pikachu has one of the better Final Smashes out of all the pokemon amiibo. This allows Pikachu to be more competitive than he normally would be. However, Jigglypuff probably has the worst. Add that to the current meta of Charizard and Lucario heavy, Jigglypuff ranks on the bottom of the tier list. Granted, Yung Puff, your amiibo was pretty strong and probably should have won. Smashballs can be pretty random.

I've gotten killed by Volt Tackle 3 times this tournament, and one of them ended a game that I should have won. I personally think that some characters' Final Smashes are just too overpowered (Ness/Lucas, Pikachu, Sonic, Rosalina) and it can hand out entirely luck-based wins. So I'm generally against them.

They literally just make certain characters better, and leave others in the dust. Not to mention, everything turns to be a bit more luck based.

Amiibo like Ness are top tier because the combination of good AI and that powerful Final Smash. Take away that Final Smash, Ness could still contend, but I don't think he'd dominate like he does without the Final Smash. Amiibo like Bowser and Little Mac have similar Final Smashes, which are terrible when compared to Ness/Lucas, Pikachu, and Sonic. However, they have other moves that hit like freight trains and dominate games that way.

Smash balls just turn tournaments into a luck-based game. Tournaments should be 100% skill, that's why we turn off all the other items.
We've seen many amiibo unfairly fall to smash balls in this tournament and previous ones, they should be turned off in all competitive amiibo tournaments.

That doesn't mean that Smash Balls should be abolished completely, however. Maybe rarely, it'd be a-ok by my standards.

They'd be okay like, once in a blue moon, because they can add a little variety now and then, but they should be used sparingly. Then, again I don't think Dan has the best grasp and what works in a competitive environment...remember that tourney where the only stage available was Midgar? Not Omega Midgar, like flat out, pretty not-okay-in-a-competitive-match Midgar.

...And I just lost.
Thanks to Charizard's FINAL SMASH when I would have won...
Even Cloud said I should have won.
