I think if there's one character that's on everybody's mind on how to train, it would be Roy. Myself included, to be honest. So, I'll put some notes here as usual, and tell me what you think! I could use some feedback, because it's Roy; I'm still not sure if this is 100% accurate. ---------------------- 1. Roy is one of those erratic characters that can either be extremely good vs an amiibo, or extremely bad. But practice makes perfect.
2. He has an extremely good up close game, thanks to his fast jab, tilts, and follow ups off of grabs.
3. Not only that, but he has a sweetspot at the hilt of his blade (or anything that's not the tip). Which makes him perfect for up close pressure.
4. His aerial attacks are extremely good, but the amiibo has no clue how to use them properly.
5. Forward and up smash are his main KO moves, with forward smash being extremely powerful and up smash being great for out of shield. Both are either good or bad depending on how Roy uses them.
6. Roy happens to posses the most true combos of any character (besides Ryu). Its sad, because he can't usually land them.
7. The AI is very inconsistent with Roy. Because of that, he usually changes his playstyle way more than he should mid-match.
8. If Roy could pick only one friend, it would be forward air.
9. Blazer is useful, if you want to die.
10. I haven't seen Falco in awhile. Strange, because his training was scheduled to start a day ago, but he hasn't shown up... I asked Roy about it, and when I did, he just gave me this look....
and then booked it.
Oi

Feedback appreciate
thank

I can 100% agree with this whole thing. I've had experience too so I'd know.

I can 100% agree with this whole thing. I've had experience too so I'd know. I can't. At least, not all of it. My Roy has had an aerial-spamming phase, but he used all his aerials, and didn't just stick with F-Air. Another thing, yes, Blazer is very unreliable, but, in my experience, it's one of Roy's safest kill moves. Roy doesn't do so well in the Amiibo World because his attacks are either short-of-range, or just barely too slow. From what I've seen, my Roy kills with Blazer, F-Smash (usually untippered, because he's often just out of range of a tipper), and Up-Smash out-of-shield. Roy, in general, has trouble killing his enemies, as a Player or an Amiibo, and it has been proven in the Amiibo World because my Roy almost always brings his opponent above 200% before being able to kill them properly, since his only safe moves are Jabs, Throws, and often, Tilts. Also, I don't understand how your Roy changes his playstyle in the middle of a match, because it takes a few matches for mine to even change a simple tactic.

Ok, yeah, I'll see what I can do about explaining things.
I think the fair spam is dependent on how you train him, but, mine did it a lot at first because I trained him to be in the air. Though, it might be because that's what the Lv.9's AI is based off of, because it spams fair a ton.
And yes, Blazer is awesome at kills. It's just not to good against anyone in my cast because they just either block or air dodge out of the way. The only time my Roy ever hits with this move is when another amiibo goes in for a hit and Roy uses the super armor to tank through it.
Jabs, throws and tilts are great, but they technically aren't his only safe moves. Like I said, the AI can't space aerials properly, so he gets punished almost every time he tries to pressure with them.
About my Roy changing his playstyle... That's a trainer thing. I change my tactics a lot in a match, so I guess I rubbed off on him a bit lol.
So, whatever. Everybody trains their Roy differently, and give him different stats and abilities. That's why I try to look at the general stuff when it comes to attributes, along with quirks and limitations to the AI.

1. I'm a Ground Fighter, so I taught my Roy to put ground fighting before air fighting.
2. My Roy either uses Blazer randomly which gets him punished, or he uses it when someone runs up to grab him.
3. My Roy has gotten seven aerials in a row without missing before, on my Marth.
4. I barely ever change my playstyle, but I think that's a bad thing.....

Hai The Gamer 1. Makes sense. 2. I can see that, custom amiibo do tend to rely on certain moves than others. Especially compared to vanilla. 3. Cool! At least yours is successful with them then, because mine is still getting used to things lol 4. It might be, a little variation never hurts. That's why I'm always a bit more on the safe side about training. I never want an amiibo to rely on a move or strategy too much because its predictable, and other amiibo pick up on it eventually. Because once your amiibo gets punished for the one thing its taught to do, its all like a "well what the heck am I supposed to do now?" type deal. So, uh, whatever works though.
