I really would like him to combo n' stuff, but he just out right refuses to do it for some reason... He just, sits there after the down throw. Like he doesn't care. Is there any way to force him out of this habit, but without resetting him?
After watching someone else's Charizard and from past experience, I know he can follow up after a grab, but why is it now he's refusing to do it?

After watching someone else's Charizard and from past experience, I know he can follow up after a grab, but why is it now he's refusing to do it? Don't worry about it. Down throw combos should be the least of your concerns TBH. I don't teach any of my amiibo their true combos because at the end of the day, they're still too risky. If their opponent has any kind of defense points, they'll take less knockback (which your amiibo will not account for when using "combos") and your amiibo will end up jumping in the air and missing an aerial, leaving it extremely vulnerable to an up smash. Basically, do not worry about your amiibo's combo ability. Teach it to stay grounded, to play defense, and to counterattack well and you'll be golden.

This is great advice n' all, but I recently switched my amiibo back to vanilla for some random reason. Funny how that works right?
Anyway, because no one has any bonuses or equipment set up anymore, I wanted to make sure that each of these characters knew how to do what they need to do when getting a grab. I mean, even Donkey Kong knows how to combo now, which is scary...
Plus, Charizard is one of my favorites. I'd hate to see him lag behind the rest just because he can't do a simple follow up for damage.

Is there anything you know that could help with this?

When I trained my Charizard, I would ALWAYS follow up after a throw (unless he was launched way too far to be able to follow up). If he wasn't launched very high, I would follow with a jab. If he was launched high enough, I would follow with a forward air.

I'd stray away from using F-Air when training Charizard, he spams it.

I trained him to literally follow up every time he used the move, but he's been acting up or something lately and hasn't used it. Dunno what the problem is either...

Just teach him to focus on other moves, he'll stop eventually.

Like, between 60 and 70 (it depends on the opponent's weight.)

Yeah, my Charizard missed the F-Air a lot, which got him to stop, after a couple days.

It's better if your amiibo doesn't combo anyway, as Cloud said.
