So currently dan is deciding if it will be either pokemon or vanilla. At the moment, it's looking to be a Pokemon-themed tournament. I'm personally very excited, if that's the case. None of the six Pokemon are noticeably "overpowered" relative to the rest of the series reps, and none are necessarily bad either. It'd be a very balanced, albeit predictable "metagame".

Can someone drop a link to the video, tweet or what have you when one Dan makes a confirmation?

I don't think any official confirmation has been made yet, but if you look at the voting, it's going to be a Pokemon tournament. This could be fun to see, but prepare for Charizards and Lucarios. Not to say anything bad about the other 4 available Pokemon, but I think those are going to be the dominant 2.

I just found the straw poll. I'm going to by a charizard for a sparring opponet, but hopefully I can Splurge on a greninja too before the tournament begins and submit one of him. Thanks for the info!

OOh...I wanna enter this one sooooo bad, what's the name of the Android App what scans Amiibo NFC data? I think one of my buddies' phones has a Reader in it. But who to use? I got Greninja, Mewtwo, & Charizard...Char needs more training, being the newest of the bunch.

I think the app is an Amiiqo app. I don't know if it's in the app store. You can get a download link from their website.

limiting it to six amiibo is a terrible idea i have fifteen and i still have none of those six it'll be predictable and people who don't have any pokemon won't be able to participate
limits such as "none of the 'best' (like mac, bowser, ness, you know)" would be better if you want variety

I'm in bad shape since all my amiibos have been thoroughly fed, and I don't want to reset anyone or buy a whole new figure to retrain without buffs.

When is this tourney set to take place, regardless of theme? I may try to enter this one if I can get my hands on a reader.

Z: I wouldn't put it past him to do a vanilla tourney for AWT #7, but it's really what the people want.
tombstonehd: No official announcement has been made yet for AWT #6, so the what and when are only presumptions at this point. BTW, an Amiiqo or a Powersaves are not required to send in your Amiibo. You can use the app with an Android phone. That is how I entered into AWT #5.

Megasparker: I understand you don't care for limiting the amiibo pool for tournaments. But in my opinion, it adds variety and sets up for potential metagame choices. We all knew Lucinas and Rosalinas would be all over AWT #5 and, as it's likely Pokemon, AWT #6 will be Charizards and Lucarios. But if we go back to an open field, it's just going to be Bowsers and Little Macs. Frankly, I'm tired of seeing 200/120/-200 amiibos dominate. We need to figure out how to beat them consistently without losing to the random character along the way.

Amiibo Dan prepared his Samus for other Amiibos, and he made 3rd Place. It all comes down to how you prepared an/your Amiibo.

Granted, they should be familiar with Pokemon and it would be best to make that a focus of their training if you are entering them in this tournament. I'm just saying you should still know what to expect and that expectation should be that the 'best' characters are who you will be seeing the most of and statistically have the best chance to make the finals. Not saying that we won't have a Pikachu or a Jigglypuff in the final of AWT #6, but their smaller size makes them easier to KO by the larger and stronger Charizards and Lucarios. That fact alone puts them at a disadvantage before the tournament even starts. Also, with the popularity of the pure overpowering build of 200/120/-200, that fits better with Charizard, Lucario, and Mewtwo than it does with the faster and lighter Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and Greninja. So, on the analytic side of it, the stats say avoid the lighter Pokemon and train a heavier one.
