Welcome, welcome, welcome! So, if you guys don't know by now, I used to run another forum a few years ago. It's defunct now, but a lot of people from there have migrated over here. If you're one of them, you probably don't need an introduction to this series. But if you're a legitimate Dojogoer and have no clue what this is, then it's time to get clued in. Basically, this series has been around since 2012. What makes it unique is that all of the characters (save for a few) are based off of forum users. They each have vastly different personalities, and live in an original world I conjured up.
The series started off as being called "Cloud's Forum Adventures" and will often be referred to as CFA. I realized that name is kind of bad so I ended up changing it to DreamBound. Who knows, maybe it'll change again. Right, and to make things simpler for me to draw, all of the characters save for a few are kirbies (they can't fly, nor swallow, it's just aesthetic-wise), but other than that, the series is completely original. It features original characters, settings, and concepts.
Here's a basic series outline: the protagonists live in a ball-shaped Observatory that orbits a planet called Estrella. They aren't really cut out for fighting at all, as you'll learn, but when an army led by a maniacal leader emerges from the shadows, it's up to them to stop these plans. In the series, you can expect to find bad puns, villains that are actually likable, battles that are a bit too intense, and deep storyline.
Since 2012, I've drawn almost 150 episodes, some of which were lost in a flash drive crash. This is a reboot of the series, so those of you who've seen the original DreamBound will find the plot familiar. To those of you who've never seen it before, it's going to be all-new. I also do streams of it sometimes, which I may or may not post on Twitter and in chat when I do. These comics take a long time to draw but people seem to really like them. Anyway, I think I've covered everything. Let's move on to some of the characters!
Characters:
Cloud
One of the three main protagonists, based off of me. He's the founder of the Observatory, and trains amiibo in his spare time. Even though he has a lot of responsibilities which he handles well, something always seems to be bugging him. Sometimes he'll space out and think deeply about something in particular - which he won't tell anybody. Other than that, he's very open and honest with friends, but shy around strangers. Doesn't like to hurt anyone if he doesn't have to. Despite being a central protagonist, he has no special abilities whatsoever. He can't fight well at all, and tires quickly.
Switch
One of the three main protagonists, and is based off of Switch . He's the co-founder of Cloud's Observatory - him and Cloud actually go way back and get along well. Switch is responsible for the upkeep of the Observatory's software. Very creative and likes to build new contraptions, even if they're completely useless. What sets him apart from the stereotypical "tech wizard" is that he's actually good at communicating. He can explain thing in a way that makes sense to everyone. Huge procrastinator and a bit eccentric, but always (usually) comes through when others are in need.
Megar
One of the three main protagonists, and is based off of Megasparker . He's...an interesting character, to say the least. Cracks bad jokes and puns at all the wrong times, and isn't afraid to make fun of people (including Cloud and Switch). He is the most physically capable of the group - possessing more strength and speed than both of the others combined. He dislikes being told what to do and prefers to slack off most of the time, even when he's supposed to be doing something. Despite this, he is very loyal towards his friends.
Spectra
A native resident of Estrella who has caught onto the plans of the Nightmare Legion. But rather than try to stop them, she's hiding. Notably, she's the only protagonist who can use magic spells without the aid of any tools. Said to be extraordinarily powerful, but is a pacifist to the point where she'll only attack if her or somebody else's life is in danger. Despite seemingly never meeting, Cloud and Spectra seem to know each other. Huh.
Executor
The maniacal but childish leader of the Nightmare Legion. His motives are unclear, but he seems to be searching for three legendary pedestals. What these pedestals do is anybody's guess. He was originally an organic lifeform, but rewired his soul to run off of a robot body so he wouldn't need to eat, drink, or sleep. Oddly, he seems to already know Cloud, Switch, and Megar, and holds a huge grudge against them. There's a lot about Executor that remains unknown, but there's one thing we know for sure - this guy is nothing but trouble.
Crimson
The second-in-command of the Nightmare Legion and Executor's partner. The two, despite sharing a common goal, don't get along at all - they both think they are better than the other. Crimson is cruel and sadistic, but can change his entire disposition to manipulate people into giving him what he wants. It is, in part, because of him that the Nightmare Legion has grown so large. Additionally, he's a capable fighter, though his true abilities have yet to be seen.
These are characters that will be revealed later in the story. They're considered spoilers, but some of the ideas here are really great. If you want to avoid any possible DreamBound spoilers, steer clear. Otherwise, go ahead and open the tag below to get a sneak peek.
Ciphrus
The true antagonist of the series. He's a cocky, megalomaniac, and selfish evil deity who is bored with his incredible power. In spite of this, he doesn't care about destroying the world or taking control over it. Instead, he prefers to toy with Estrella's residents in ways he finds funny. Ciphrus doesn't take anything seriously, preferring to play everything off as a joke. He's omnipresent (but still has a physical form) and can hear / see everything the protagonists do. In fact, he'll sometimes telepathically chime in with sarcastic jokes or "hilarious" puns, much to the annoyance of the group. Less of a “villain”, more of a “huge annoying omnipresent being”.
The first episode of the series will be coming soon. I hope you guys enjoy it! As new characters are revealed in the series, I'll update this page with them. [/spoiler]
