I want to train my Pac-Man amiibo (PACCIDENT), but, as we all know, Pac-Man is very troubling to train "traditionally". Can anybody give me some suggestions on:
* What customs to give him * What equipment to set him up with * How to train him
So that Pac-Man be...not exactly "better". What I'm aiming for is to make Pac-Man as oddball as possible, and to train him to use unorthodox strategies. I'm not aiming to get a good fighter on my hands. Just a very interesting one. Hopefully this makes sense.

Dire Hydrant is probably the best for Pacman amiibo. He drops a fire hydrant that explodes when it hits the floor. I dunno anything else besides that custom. I guess you can go 40/70/10 for Pacman in terms of stats, but abilities is a little bit different.

I'm still not sure which other customs to use, since Pac will pretty much only use cherries for his Neutral (all three variations act very differently, so I'm wondering which to use), considering using Enticing Power Pellet since it deals a lot more damage but it's very slow, and not at all sure what I'll do for his Up B.

Try the Up-B that only makes him jump on the spring once. It let's him go really high, and it's better compared to the original, where he has a chance of missing the spring, which I have seen happen before.

Not sure about customs, but Pac-Man could use a good boost to his attack and defense. Because he'll probably be in your face more than the traditional Pac-Man, he needs more reward per hit. As for training him, I suggest just doing some basic stuff since you can't really mess around with the Bonus Fruits so much. Things like forward tilt out of shield to counter attack, short hop forward air to another forward air or neutral air for shield pressure, and how to snipe with the Fire Hydrant. If I were to recommend @cloud 's defensive methods for one character, it would definitely be Pac-Man. Not only does he have amazing 'get off me' moves, but they're all really fast to boot. Jab really works wonders here, and its a nice compensate for Pac-Man's slow grab (which does have some damaging throws btw). I believe down throw into dash attack is a true combo that Pac-Man will learn, so it wouldn't hurt to give him that piece of knowledge. I'd give you more info, but there's really not much to the ghost gobbler. He's as basic as it gets when training, so hopefully it shouldn't be too much trouble.

I've done a lot of work with Pac-Man, so I'm happy to say I have experience here.
Pac-Man is an extremely erratic amiibo who simply loses to high-tier characters. I can't find any specific reason for this, either. He does what I tell him to, but he's always in the wrong place at the wrong time and uses the right moves at the wrong time. However, there's one specific bonus effect that I believe needs to be on your Pac-Man: Easy perfect shield. Hence its name, it makes it easier for your amiibo to get the block. I give this bonus to a lot of "low-ranked" amiibo, such as Villager and Samus. I feel like it really helps them out in general because it assists them in opening up an offensive opportunity (what I mean by this is, it'll help your amiibo block more - when it blocks, it'll then have a chance to strike with a smash attack). It's also a great idea to dedicate another slot to a different shield bonus in addition to Easy perfect shield. You could go with Explosive perfect shield, Mirror shield, or Improved shield regeneration.
As for customs, Pac-Man is a hot mess when he has his default moves. Hydrants and fruits flying everywhere, it's nigh impossible to train him to play defense. I have my amiibo's neutral special set to Freaky Fruit. I didn't use neutral special at all during training, but in the rare instance that he does use it against another amiibo, he knows which fruit he wants to throw before he even uses the move. Second, Dire Hydrant, while it's a huge pain to get him to stop using, makes Pac-Man a bit more organized than if he had the default version of the move. The only problem is that he'll still drop it above people's heads (which is all he knows to do with ANY of his down specials), so you'll have to be very wary when he's above you.

Mine is pretty defensive for some reason.
