Something I've noticed lately is people still use air to train amiibo. It's been proven by tournaments and my experience that air trained amiibo are bad. So if air is bad why do people still use it? Well everybody except one person I've told air was bad ignored me, if air trainers tried ground they would see the difference. So with that being said, how many people air train, and how many people ground train?

I think it's because A) they still want their amiibo to be combo lords and meteor spikers, B) they simply cannot adapt to a ground-based playstyle, or C) they just train them whatever way for fun only.

3.) It depends on how I'm using the amiibo.
When training an amiibo with the purpose of fighting other amiibo or to enter tournaments with, I use ground training.
For sparring partners (aside from my Little Mac), I use a balance of aerial and ground combat, since that tends to have a more 'human' playstyle.

I air train a few just for fun, mainly to fight against. I don't send them to tournaments like that, but it is fun to air train certain amiibo.

Ehhhhhhhh
Air training is pretty bad in this metagame, especially where Explosive Perfect Shield is a bonus that's so frequently used.
However, once you take EPS out of the equation...it gets a bit more interesting!
Personally, I prefer the air, as Falco would say lol Not that I don't focus on ground game, though. I mean, most amiibo stay there anyway, especially characters like Bowser - they need to stay grounded in order to win.
I encourage aerials for characters who have good ones, but other than that, everyone's butt should be glued to the ground lol

It's not really just EPS - Perfect Shields in general are an issue for amiibo, who would likely be counterattacked if they attack with aerials, even if you reduce lag with Smooth Lander.
It's not an issue when playing with other people because not everyone is going to flawlessly get perfect shields. But also, aerials are the bread 'n' butter of some characters. I have to remember at times when I'm playing the game normally or training amiibo which exactly what I'm doing.
With amiibo though, they don't follow up, so teaching them aerials seems like a waste - and when they do use aerials anyway, they seem pretty accurate.

Of course that's an issue, I'm not disregarding that fact either. In the same sense though, it's not like you teach an amiibo to just recklessly throw out aerials, right? Exactly, but amiibo aren't perfect either, remember? It helps in some matchup and situations where an amiibo would be punished by the landing lag on their aerials. Especially characters like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, since they insist on using aerials so much. While it isn't ideal for every trainer, it can still prove beneficial. Weeeeellll they actually do. Sure, they definitely need the speed boosts to follow up, but they definitely can and are willing to do it.

I focus on ground training but there is no way you can permanently take aerials out of an amiibo's code. Eventually they will throw out 1-2 aerials, which can be unexpected by the opponent, and can lead to damage, even kills in some situations. Its how my Zss lost WAS0. Then said amiibo will start using their aerials and you have to, once again, teach them to Stop.
