Since my Wii U is my main amiibo system, I'll perform the update on it, however since my 3ds has NFC support, i won't update it so I can test the differences.

I hope you're right about those extra 3DS stages, EPM . That would be a godsend, I've really missed Onett. (I do not own a WiiU and can only play PocketSmash.)

Buff Lucario! And Game & Watch! And Diddy's AI while you're at it! Nerf Mac! Put Sceptile in the game! And the Ice Climbers! Give them both amiibo files that we can download off the Internet so we get the amiibos early! Same with Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta! So, this is all pretty reasonable, right? Reasonable... Sure...

(Sarcastic) 1.1.6 Patch Notes:- Balance. We could tell you what we changed, and who was affected, but we'll instead just apply changes and let the players of the community use sources of questionable reliability to try and determine what we could have told you within minutes.
Now for the main attraction:Your replays no longer function.

No, what we need is special Smash. There's already stamina programmed into the system, so the other modes would be easy to code. But, we'll see.

It seems no patch came yesterday, but Thursday has a scheduled maintenance for 'certain' Nintendo online services.As helpfully specific as ever, aren't we Nintendo? Annoyed jokes aside, I'm doubtful that will be around the 1.1.6 patch. As it's being focused on online ranking systems apparently, I suspect that's a sort of 'setup' maintenance in preparation for patch release. If I had to make a guess, based on corporate tendencies, 1.1.6 may come out Friday, as that's generally the preferred date for anything to come out for the weekend. That maintenance on Thursday is very brief, just short of two hours late PST. However, given the timing, that raises the possibility of the maintenance being done, and then once the time passes to midnight and Friday, the patch goes live automatically. Going with my theory that the 3DS is getting more stages ported to it, I'm betting that the maintenance period is also a test of online play stability with those stages. After all, if they have too much loaded into memory, it'd make them very laggy even on a decent connection, so they'd need to be tested in a mockup of real network conditions. In that case, why not use the maintenance period where players won't be additionally disturbed by tests? Incidentally, this is why Japan tends to get online releases so much sooner than anywhere else. It's not just domestic pandering and the simple fact of not needing a translation. Remember all the fun surrounding Pokemon Bank's release? Japan has a very high, very urbanized population and demographic of gamers. It's a whole lot easier to plan for things like server logistics and communication with such a small location. Compare that to releasing something for the EU, and spanning all over multiple countries. The US is even worse in that regard due to sheer ungodly SIZE of the country. If a 4-player FFA match happens online between someone in Florida, Alaska, Hawaii, and Maine, take pity on the software engineers. Granted, it all works out in the end, with lag ultimately caused by connection quality and speed between all participants, rather than network structure. But it takes a lot more work to get to an acceptably functioning state with a more widely spread variety of players.

Ah. Went right over my head. By the way, when is this dropping? is it already here? I swear to christ if they nerf Charizard right after that much-deserved 1.1.5 buff I will kidnap the Pope. In other words, its dropping faster than my mixtape Hue hue hue (Okayno)
Anyways, my hope is that my Roy will stop trying his hardest to be a Lucina and start acting like an actual Roy. He tries his hardest to spam a Side Special that almost never works, and an Up Special that usually misses. Anything else he does gets shielded no prob.

Now for the main attraction:Your replays no longer function. I wanna do my own take on this now lol
OFFICIAL PATCH NOTES OF THE 1.1.6 VERSION OF SUPAR SMASH BROTHERS FOR WEE YOU AND TREE DEE ES:
*Bayonetta has been nerfed you ungrateful nuggets, now you can stop whining about how broken this character is.
*More minor changes to enchance gameplay online n' stuff, because we know how you like it when we're vague and we don't tell you what has actually been changed.
Have fun working on that.
*Oh yeah, REPLAYS NOT WORKING INTENSIFIES.
*User experience just got real again.
*We also managed to add a whole bunch of other things, but we're too busy to list them here. So uh, have fun working on looking for this too.

As usual, info is provided by data miners over at Smashboards.Bayonetta balancing is seemingly the only character frame data change. Interestingly enough, this is data-mined only information, as the patch data has not been made available to the public in any region as of yet. It's on the Wii U server, not accessible from consoles, but external computers can access the data if the right address is (somehow) known. It also only applies to the Wii U version, as no doubt the 3DS version is getting more than just that. However, as the data mining was only able to access whatever was put on the servers, it's an incomplete picture right now. It's important to note that the patches are not just 'updated values', they're entire file replacements. It's not like saving a few changes made to a document on your computer, it's like replacing that document entirely due to how the system works (likely to keep encryption, network security, and anti-cheating stuff fully intact). Bayonnaise's moveset file is 60+ MB in size, and no other moveset files showed any difference in the server data. However, it seems that server patch mining is incomplete in perspective, particularly this much ahead of whenever the patch goes officially live. Cloud's patch was a similar incomplete look, as the mined-from-server look was only a fraction of what the released patch held. If I had to guess, the server's data gets updated ahead of time with whatever causes the most synchronization trouble to iron out any logistical issues, and then the official patch release provides everything else. The 3DS version's changes are purely speculative. A disconcerting suggestion I read was that the file format of the 3DS means that its gigantic update size stems from every update also containing all previous updates. This is something I dispute, however, because in the case of moveset file adjustment patches, only the most recent files would be needed at all. And server bandwidth isn't cheap, so why have hundreds of thousands of users downloading something huge at once when they could download something sanely sized instead? On top of that, such an "everything cumulative at once" update system is virtually incompatible with DLC. If someone didn't have characters that patch data existed for, the update structure would make even less sense, and even raise the possibility of unforeseen complications. So I do not believe it's that simple. Man, I am the theory guy of these forums, I just realized. Have I made any posts without guesswork or theories?

If you count the suggestion for a Smash ball only bonus set that gave birth to VOLTECCER. Thanks for that, by the way. Smash Balls on High make him literally undefeatable. I really hope Kirby gets some good buffs. He's my go to character, and I'd love to see some changes that could possibly bump up the lil guy a tier or two, on the amiibo tier list or competitive tier list. Namely, Kirby needs some better air mobility, and more range. Maybe buff up the power of his attacks too.

I've been thinking about this for awhile, but they need to make a CPU tier list or an 8-player tier list so you know who to face against your amiibo in 8-player smash to make them lose and get more equipment!

Namely, Kirby needs some better air mobility, and more range. Maybe buff up the power of his attacks too. I think part of the reason Kirby's air mobility doesn't get buffed is because Sakurai likes making the characters feel like the characters from their games - and I know, Ganondorf aside (There's a reason for his moveset being as is too though) but since Kirby is his baby, I think he likens to keep the character closer to their games. For Kirby, when you inflate and fly in a Kirby game, you fly at a rather slow pace - Kirby in Smash likely has slower air speed because of the exact same premise. Whereas Meta Knight has better air speed (compared to Kirby) because Meta Knight is essentially a fusion of Sword and Wing - and Wing definitely has better air mobility in the Kirby games the ability is featured in. Oh, and it provides a difference from Jiggs whose overall model and animation are derived from Kirby's - Kirby has more vertical range in his jumps while Jiggs has more air mobility and horizontal range. Range is lessened likely due to his limbs being aesthetically shorter for a cuter appearance. They could increase the hitbox though.

All of my want.
Seriously, if they could at least buff up his air mobility and range, I would never ask for Kirby buffs again lol

Sorry for the double post, but the patch is out now!
Ok, so from what I've gathered, there's a lot of super small things that have been fixed lol Change log from what I've gathered:
Bold = Confirmed
Italics = Unconfirmed
-----------------------------------
*Bayonetta got some pretty huge nerfs, takes much more skill to use properly now. I won't go through specifics, but most of them involve hitboxes being shrunk and the SDI factor being multiplied to at least 2x. Yada yada yada, something something #burned
*No other apparent changes to the other characters.
*The huge update for the 3DS version of the game, was actually just the game re-downloading all the other patches alongside the new content. It does this every time.
*AI Revamp. Not sure to what extent, but there's a lot more dodging now.
(MORE TO COME, STILL LOOKING!)
