ALL ABOARD THE HYPE TRAIN
In the last month, a lot of little online Amiibo tournaments have sprung up. Some might (and have) said too many. I'm inclined to agree. This is causing a lot of mediocre or half-ready Amiibo to be entered and not giving us the time we really need to prepare.
Let’s fix that. Introducing The Amiibo Train, a series of tournaments designed to give people time to train and open up a lot of access for anyone who wants to participate.
The first Circuit will be during June. Each Circuit will last exactly a month, with a quarterly tournament and a yearly one as well. Let’s look at the calendar.
Cutthroat Circuit #1: June Calendar
June 1st: The Clash of Champions. Hosted by Amiibo Dojo.
June 7th: Weekly Amiibo Skirmish. Hosted by Bysshe
June 11th: Amiibomania. Hosted by Skymiibo
June 14th: Weekly Amiibo Skirmish. Hosted by Bysshe
June 21st: Weekly Amiibo Skirmish. Hosted by Bysshe
June 25th: Amiibomania. Hosted by Skymiibo
June 28th: Weekly Amiibo Skirmish. Hosted by Bysshe
We also would like a one-time tournament hosted by someone who doesn’t host a regular, syndicated tournament like the ones above. This will be someone different each month, ideally, and will be weighted the same as any other tournament. We’d also like it to be something fun with a theme, like vanilla or from a certain series, etc.
Quarterly Throwdown:
Every three months, we will have a big tournament with everyone who qualifies by placing 1st or 2nd in any of the monthlies (the one-of tournament or Clash of Champions).
Year’s End Robin:
If you place first in the Clash of Champions, or first or second in a Quarterly Throwdown, you qualify for the Robin, where all these people will participate in a Round Robin to find the best amiibo trainer of the year!
Here's the Thing:
Do. Not. Enter. All. Of. These. We are offering a ton of tournaments to give everyone time to prepare. You have an option to enter a tournament every week. Some weeks you can do two. The most important one is, tbh, the Clash, as it can qualify you for the future Quarterly and Year's End. Once you have a qualifying win in one of the tournaments, we ask that you respect others and enter maybe not so good of an amiibo or not at all to give everyone a shot to get into the big tournaments.
Wait, why does YOUR tournament get to be in it?
For a few reasons. One, it was my idea. Two, and the real reason, is because the three regular tours are included as they have been shown to be successful and run effectively. If you want your tournament in the Circuit for a month, you need to contact Cloud, Skymiibo, or myself in some form or another with your tournament idea and a suggested date. It cannot be on a date that already has a tournament scheduled.
Do I need to submit amiibo to all of you?
No, not right now anyway. You only need to enter your amiibo just like you would for the tournament you want to enter. When we do the Quarterly and Yearly, you'll be provided with an invitation from a secret email that will be where you send your amiibo. It's all very snazzy, and I'm pretty damn stoked.
So what do I do until then?
Enter tournaments! I've got two more WAS coming up before the 1st, so feel free to enter those. Skymiibo may also have something going, talk to him.
I hope you are all very excited to participate in this fun tournament series with us! We think it'll help clean everything up and make the tournament scene a lot less messy.
From all of us on the Amiibo Train, this has been Bysshe.
