Hey guys! Bysshe here. I'm going to discuss my thoughts on our currently blossoming Amiibo tournament scene.
The Problem: We have a lot of people wanting to start a lot of tournaments that are all becoming kind of the same. This is bad for our scene. We want to have focused, driven tournaments that can build our community. Too many will overload newcomers. I have a monthly schedule I think we could stick to that A) gives people a lot of tournament opportunities, and B) won't oversaturate our meta.
The Solution: I suggest something I am reticently calling The Dojo Tournament League. It's a series of four tournaments a month that promote access, diversity, and training. Here's what I propose.
Weekly: The Weekly Amiibo Skirmish
Bi-weekly: Amiibomania
Monthly: Clash of Champions
And another tournament that should be run by a different person every month. This, I think, should also be a theme tournament. This gives a lot of people a "fun" tournament.
Why these three Regulars: They're the first ones, clearly established, and already have an accepted rule set. We also know these three tournaments can be run on the schedule proposed.
Quarterly Throwdown: Every three months, we can have a big tournament with everyone who qualifies by placing 1st or 2nd in any of the monthlies.
Year's End Robin: If you place first in the Clash of Champions, or first or second in a Quarterly Throwdown, you can qualify for the Robin, where all these people will participate in a Round Robin to find the best amiibo trainer, of the year!
What do y'all think of this? I feel like this gives us all a way to join a bunch of tournaments without having too many randoms popping up.
Of course, I can't stop you from running a tournament if you want to. I just hope that by doing this, we can limit those and give people lots of regulated opportunities to test their amiibo!

Well well well, there's a first for everything. This, to me, makes the tournaments seem less like an organized mess, and more like an organized schedule, which I'd appreciate. However, my opinion is just a small margin, since I don't run a tournament. Still, I think this would be better.

I think this is a great idea! Three is plenty.

But that's still eight tournaments a month, when you do the math. I'm ok with that, as long as you guys don't mind me recycling a lot of entrants.

Agreed still a lot of tourney's every month but it will help from getting overloaded with more people having access to a power tag. Just because there will be this many tourneys doesn't mean everyone has to enter every one of them either. Overall I agree with you Bysshe. Maybe the 4th tourney can be Amiibo All-Stars Championship by apple.

Agree. I'll host tournaments on the 1st of every month.

If I ever choose to run a tournament myself, I'll let you guys know. I'd rather first start out streaming other things before ever jumping into hosting amiibo tournaments.
However, I'm more content on letting everyone else do their own thing, and would personally like to see it more organized.

Nice, good schedule. In the future, me and Tmac have big plans but nothing concrete. We are wanting to stream the whole tournament live on either youtube or twitch. However, we don't want to add yet another tournament. Once we get further along we might talk to others to come up with a solution. We were thinking a monthly tournament, but since Dojo is doing that, we may take winners from the tournaments and have like a championship tournament for each month. A really small tournament. Then at the end of the year, take all the winners for each month and have a yearly championship. IDK just a thought for now.

Seems like a pretty solid proposal to me.

Looking forward to the official post regarding this, but to figure out the upcoming schedule, am I right about this? This week - Off Next week - WAS returns, AASC (Only one of apple and TheBlueTrainer's tournaments on the schedule so far) Week of 5/30 - WAS, CoC (2 amiibo entry) Week of 6/6 - WAS, AM (2 amiibo entry) Week of 6/13 - WAS Week of 6/20 - WAS, AM Week of 6/27 - WAS, CoC And so on with a sprinkle of AASC in there... I'm sure the announcement will cover that.
