- Little Mac is being banned from all future tournaments. Four of them entered, and two of them took 1st and 2nd. Honestly, Little Mac is worse in the Amiibo metagame than Bayonetta is in Smash 4, or Meta Knight in Brawl, or Fox that can laser with Falcon’s Knee in Melee or… You get the point. He’s freaking broken. His ability to break shields and then retaliate by literally 0-Death Forward Smashing opponents is too strong. He can’t be countered since he has super armor on his smash attacks. In a game where you can overload your attack stats, Little Mac is just too damn broken.
- Just like in WAS0, WAS1 had a surprisingly amazing low-tier Amiibo place high: TMac’s Olimar, Entourage, placed fourth, and even managed to knockout a Little Mac. Olimar, a D-Tier Amiibo, defeated what is undoubtedly the best Amiibo in the game. It was amazing to watch. Entourage properly shielded enough to rack up Explosive Shield damage, while simultaneously tossing his Pikmin to keep the damage going. In a few seconds, Entourage’s opponents had 75% on them.
- This is truly a testament to what good training can do. If you’ll recall, this same Olimar put up a good fight and lost both of its first fights, without much ado. Going from double-knockout to 4th place in a tournament twice as large is just amazing. Olimar sent one Little Mac to Losers, another out of the tournament. It was just incredible to watch. TMac ought to be congratulated for his work.
- Another low-tier actually did fairly well: a Zelda. It was this same Zelda that managed to actually knockout my Lucina, which won Amiibomania last weekend. Again, great training and great trainers are to blame for these low-tier upstarts, and I’m pleased as punch to see more trainers interested in raising such cool Amiibo.
- This section can’t be quite complete because only one person really knows how to make it work, and that’s Amiibo Dojo. Dojo has developed a new method and only vaguely hinted at how it works. Basically, you use a Powersaves device to reset your Amiibo to level 1, but it’s an artificial lowering. The Amiibo retains everything it knows, but is again at level 1 and will take lessons much more effective. If you need evidence for the strength of this technique, look no further than the bracket to see how well a SQ1 can do (Dojo’s Little Mac was trained in this way). He also posted a video of what he himself has called the worst Amiibo in the game, Pac-Man, beating the same Little Mac from the tournament. He says it was this training method.
- A few things to think on going forward:
o Little Mac is just banned from these tournaments. There’s no other way to make this game balanced, which it can be if the bastard is out. So he’s out.
o Square One will revolutionize our metagame.
o There is nothing good training and putting work into an Amiibo can’t do.
o Next week’s W.A.S. is going to be on Monday due to an important scheduling conflict.
- I hope you’ve all enjoyed this reflection, and train hard for next week! Dojo has a massive lead in points on the ladder. We gotta fix that!
- As always, GG.
