He has a habit of spamming his up special... Wanna get him to stop, but it's pretty hard for me to do so. Tips?

Try and counter/punish it as often as possible during mirror matches. He oughta stop using it as much. There's also AmiiboDan's Team-up method where you (as Roy) and Young Lion team up against a lv1 DK. Kill DK with the moves you want Yung Leezy to kill with and never use Up-B and he'll pick up what you're putting down.

The best bet, is to get an amiibo that punishes him using it while he's in the air. Mine had this habit for the longest time, but I eventually set him up with Marth. He used it fewer times each round because Marth just dodged the attack and punished with an up air every time. He eventually stopped using it, and now only uses it in dire situations that call for it.
Though as I would imagine, your amiibo stick to the ground a lot, don't they?
That's gonna be a problem, because if your amiibo are taught to do only ground attacks, they won't go after him for the punish because they're not taught to do that. If Roy lands safely each time he does it, he thinks its safe to use.
I suggest doing what I did, pit him against other amiibo until he takes enough blows to realize that its a bad idea to use that move. Otherwise, you could try to get him to stop yourself by showing him other attacks to use instead.

I know this works for jumps, idk about up specials...you can still try this. Make a flat custom stage with a low ceiling with lava on it. Everytime your amiibo uses up Special it should run into the lava. Be careful, though. if you want the amiibo to hop around and use aerials then this isnt the technique for you. If my explanation is too confusing, amiibodojo has a better explanation of how the stage should look, at amiibodojo.com/2015/11/11/postlevel50/#more-873 under "Problem #2: My amiibo jumps and uses aerials too much!" Hope this helps.
