This Friday - March 18th, 2016 - amiibo figures of Roy and Ryu will be released. I'm sure many of you (me included) will be indulging in purchasing these guys, so I decided to create a thread where we could all talk about things our amiibo are doing. Not only will this thread [hopefully] spark good discussion, but it'll also help me out a lot when it comes time to write up the Roy and Ryu amiibo guides. I'm scheduled to get Ryu first on 3/18, and Roy a few days later thanks to GameStop's lackluster shipping system (not paying an extra $11 for two-day shipping when Amazon does that for free, so I went with the free one). As I train my amiibo, I'll edit this post with some early observations and tier list predictions.

Ok, here's what I got so far~
Roy ---- .Jab out of shield is pretty much engraved into his coding, and can use it at Lv.1
.Has a huge variety of grab combos
.(EDIT) He actually spaces his attacks more evenly now, so he hits with the hilt of his blade more often.
.Goes for spikes if done so to him at low Lv.'s
.Doesn't use neutral air much, despite it being so much better than forward air
Ryu ---- .Knows how to do short combos with tilts atm, nothing too special yet.
.Can use special inputs at Lv.1
.Ledge trump into ledge jump into back air is a thing at low Lv.'s
.Will use Hadoken to recover
-----------------------------------------
More to come!

So far, I've seen him use his side special and then up special to recover, so that's good. All I can say for now, at school currently

Ok, Ryu is legit guys.
I'm really impressed with the combo variety in this one, I'm still waiting to see how he does at Lv.50 though.

I have them both, and I'll be sure to scribble up some quick jots during their training.
(EDIT: Here are some recommendations for their setups! Even though I haven't started training them yet....
Roy
40/70/10 Critical-Hit Capability Lifesteal Improved Escapability
Ryu
40/70/10 Critical-Hit Capability Lifesteal/Some Shield Equipment Improved Escapability)

If Roy lands his up special on you, he would instantly fast fall to the ground so he can get a follow up attack while you're falling. That's something I've noticed with him.

Lv.37 Ryu... He knows like every combo in the book.
I even learned a new combo from him.
Apparently, up tilt into down smash is a thing.

I'm throwing my replays on YouTube. There's four of them, so you'll see them all on my channel, and in the Amiibo Training Discussion forum.

I think I'm just gonna put together a combo list for Ryu, just to show people what the amiibo can learn.
Because everybody should know how to make their amiibo a monster.

So, my Roy is actually doing great. He still favors using forward air a lot more than he should, but its working out for him pretty well. In win ratio, he's faced Marth, Lucina, and Little Mac so far.
The results with no set match limit
Roy 3:4 Marth
Roy 2:2 Lucina
Roy 3:2 Little Mac
Overall, he could use some work, but he could seriously be a threat at this rate.

OH, I got info on Roy!
So, as it turns out, if you have a Luigi that's trained well, he's actually a great dueling partner for Roy. Why, you might ask? Because he's just like Roy, in a sense that he's deadly up close, uses aerials sparingly, and has grab combos.
With this in mind, it allows both of them to hone in on their pressuring skills because of their similar playstyles. Not only that, but it gives Roy an idea of how to deal with mid-ranged options (because of Luigi's Fireball) and give him a better idea of how to punish properly and gain the upper hand in bad situations. He can also learn a really cool reading technique from Luigi, in that he'll use jab to read rolls, which is huge.
The exact outcome of matches depends on how well each of your amiibo are trained, so don't expect either of them to go dead even with each other asap.
