So all of my amiibo right now are level 50 and are vanilla (I have 36 amiibo). After lurking around some of the guides I was debating resetting all of them and then re-training them with equipment and such.
I was wondering if that's a bad idea and that I should just give them all equipment now and keep training them with it, or if resetting them and then training them with equipment is a good idea.

You could go either way, because as far as I know, both methods give you the same result. I have a Lucas than I trained vanilla for a vanilla-only tournament, and after that was all said and done, I gave him equipment afterwords. Granted, you'll have to take some time mirror matching and such to help them adjust to their changes, but it would take the same amount of time, if not more, to retrain your amiibo from scratch. Either method works, in my experience.

I probably wouldn't reset. I would do a few mirror matches with the same character, same equipment. Show the amiibo how to use them and boom, ya got a good amiibo. I've done this with a few of mine and they are doing fine.

Alright, thanks. I wasn't sure which method would have been better, but I'll give them their equipment and do some mirror matches.

It seems as though the issue has been solved, but I figured I'd chip in: no, you should not reset them.
I had this problem with my Ness amiibo way back when I started giving my amiibo equipment. I had put him in over a thousand matches against every opponent on every stage, and I didn't want to throw that all away. I ended up deciding to feed him equipment as-is and build on the skills I had taught him. And what do you know, he was the first of my amiibo to win a tournament! That proves more than anything that any amiibo can win a tourney, even if it wasn't raised to Level 50 with equipment.

Fun Fact: You can't true reset them (Unlike Frisk and Chara can...) because they still remember what they've taught. It was old in the shoutbox. A C. Falc wasn't teching, his trainer started teching, he got reset, and was teching at level 8.
