I'm stuck thinking if this MIGHT work or not... If I restart Roy, would it be bad if I had my Marth amiibo train him? Sounds like an unorthodox question, but my Roy kinda sucks... And I can't seem to fix his Up Special spamming habit. No matter how much effort I put into it, he just keeps doing it... Even my Megaman is smarter than him!

Dan made a video on amiibo training other amiibo, I guess it couldn't hurt to give it a try. But it all really depends on how bad you think Roy is. Something I tried today was using some of Cloud's suggestions for post-Level 50 training on an amiibo that wasn't yet Level 50, so you could restart him and try that too, as it seemed to work ok for me. Hopefully you can get this sorted out!

Personally, I'd go with Lucy in case Roy picks up Marth's Tipping habits.

Wait... maybe you could try mirror matching on heavy+metal? He'd learn to stay on the ground, and you could hit him with the hilt without too much knockback, so you could do it repetitively and teach him to hit with the hilt. And he'd get almost no vertical distance on his Up-B, so he would learn not to spam that, too.
Yeah, I know I'm all over the board here, but I don't have ANY sword fighters except Meta Knight, so I don't know how to train these guys.

He would just keep spamming it.

If I remember right, he entered those two into AWT4, and it blew up in his face.

Luckily for me, despite not entering a tourney yet, Grolla is my best amiibo by far. If it works well, Roy might actually learn something from her. Hopefully one of those things isn't Up Special spamming. And besides, that was a team tourney, so of course it would blow up like that.

That's true, but the Lucas was good by itself. Don't forget that that specific tournament was doubles, and Lucas accidentally killed Ness. AWT4 was not a very good measure of individualized skill.

I'm only mildly interested in the 3 swordfighters, and I only have one of them, Roy, so my experience with them isn't nearly as advanced, but...
Roy has some moves that although they might function similarly to the other 2, aren't exactly the same. Neutral-B, for example, is a shieldbreaker for Marthina, but not for Roy. Roy's Side-Smash, if I recall correctly, is much faster than the others' Side-smash, which might cause the training to result in Roy using some of his most powerful moves less often.
Due to some similarities, it's possible that Marthcina might train Roy with a bit of aerial combat and counter use, but to claim that the amiibo will use the learned tactics reliably is a gamble, especially without the ability to go back should the training be unsuccessful when it comes to training a better amiibo.
One last thing is that Marthcina is different when it comes to range, both Marth and Lucina use the edge of the blade most of the time, since it's generally safer. Lucina has less consequences for fighting up close, but she'll usually still fight from afar (From CPU observation). It's likely Roy won't get as close as he has to.

I THINK I cured his Up Special spamming habit... Must do further tests and analyze his changes. If I did manage to cure it... I'll make a guide showing how I did it. But for now, further tests are needed.
EDIT: HIS DISEASE HAS BEEN CURED! He became SO much better! He only lost to my Zard and ONE of my three Bowser amiibo, which would be King Koopa! I FIXED MY ROY! *throws confetti*
